Taranaki Civil Defence Emergency Management (CDEM) Group would like your feedback on reviewing our draft Group Plan.

We want to know what is important to you, your whanau and your community before, during and after a disaster.

Feedback must be received by Tuesday 8 April 2025.  

We strongly recommend you read the plan before having your say.

What is the group plan?

The Group Plan for Taranaki sets out the vision, goals and high-level arrangements for the Taranaki region. The document outlines how the Taranaki CDEM Group works together with the community to prepare for and respond to disasters in the region.

What is the Taranaki Civil Defence Emergency Management Group?

Taranaki Emergency Management is a shared service between all four councils in Taranaki and works in partnership with emergency services and other organisations to ensure effective coordination of emergency management within its area.

Who is Taranaki Civil Defence Emergency Management?

The Taranaki CDEM group is governed by a Joint Committee of Mayors of each members territorial authority (district councils) in Taranaki and an elected member from the Taranaki Regional Council.

Emergency Management Advisers from each of the territorial authorities and Taranaki Emergency Management Office work together to deliver emergency management services.

What is Civil Defence and Emergency Management

Civil Defence Emergency Management in New Zealand is a coordinated system that helps communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters. It involves local, regional, and national agencies working together to reduce risks, ensure effective emergency response, and support long-term recovery.

Submitting feedback

The consultation form is divided into two parts, the first part is to collect your thoughts on the group plan and the second to collect some basic personal information. Most questions on the form are optional.

You will be asked to rate your opinion of that section and openly tell us your thoughts.
